380 pages of inspirations and references, gathered in one publication.

Client: Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, Kraków, Poland

Patterns are presented on kimonos from the collection of the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, on examples from the Orimon Ruizan fabric pattern book and on fragments of patterns taken from woodcuts. The main goal was for book to become a source of inspiration and reference not only for enthusiasts of Japanese culture, but also for fashion designers, product designers, artists and graphic designers. Thanks to its easy-to-use form (small format, rounded corners, ribbons enabling marking the most interesting fragments), makes leafing through the pages of the book very comfortable.

The varied refinement of the cover with varnish, located selectively on the title block and the spine, adds an interesting twist to the whole. The characteristic graphic element leading throughout the publication is cutting the image of main kimonos in half - because kimono is a symmetrical, geometric shape, it gives an interesting effect, distinguishing the publication. In cases where it was not possible to use a kimono for a given pattern, I decided to use graphics from the Orimon Ruizan fabric pattern book, composed in a rectangle, which is a "reflection" of the facing page, on which there is an explanation of the motive presented.
